Gods not Your Genie in a Bottle... Show Some Respect

He is the most Holy of all kings. His throne is a great white throne-unspotted and clear as crystal. "The stars are not pure in his sight . How much less man, that is a worm ?" (Job 25:4-6). With what lowliness should you draw near to Him. Familiarity there may be , but let it not be unhallowed. Boldness there should be, but let it not be impertinent. You are still on earth and He in heaven. You are still a worm of the dust, and He the everlasting. Before the mountains were brought forth, He was God, and If all created things should pass away, yet He would still be the same. I am afraid we do not bow as we should before the Eternal Majesty. Let us ask the Spirit of God to put us in a right frame, that everyone one of our prayers may be a reverential approach to the Infinite Majesty above .
- Charles Spurgeon
(The Power of Prayer in a Believers Life)

Christians may not call God their genie in a bottle but they sure enough pray to Him like he is. God is not here to make all your dreams and desires come true especially if they don't even line up with His word. Do you not realize that you are praying to King of Kings, the creator of all, the I am that I am, the lamb that was slain and the lion that is to come? Do you rush through your morning prayer with a "honey do list" in the name of Jesus Christ? Oh sheep do not be led astray. The good Shepard has said "And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. "And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. Pray then like this:
"Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For yours is the kingdom power and glory forever and ever amen
(Matthew 6:5-13)

In Luke 22:42 Jesus again shows the perfect example how to pray
saying, "Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done."

Next time you pray do not come to God saying my will be done , pray His will be done . Ask Him to teach you how to pray. Seek Him . Serve Him. Follow Him.
