How to pray for & encourage the persecuted church

"praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak. (Ephesians 6:18-20 ESV)

Paul gives us clear directions on praying for our brothers and sisters around the world who are being persecuted for the faith. We are to be praying at all times, being alert. Praying that God will fill them with words to boldly proclaim the gospel.

Here in America we do not know what real persecution is. We can read our bibles anytime we want, we
Can go to church anytime we want, we can have bible studies at coffee houses. Yet,many never memorize or even pick up there bibles through out the week. There is so much we take for granted living in America.

With that said We can not forget that there are Christians who have literally laid down there lives for the cause of Christ all over the world, daily. Every time they share the gospel there is a risk that they will be sent to prison ,tortured,or even martyred. Some will give anything to just have a portion of scripture to encourage them in times of trouble. Many memorize whole portions of scripture preparing themselves for a time when they may get arrested and their only bible be taken away.

Pray that The Lord will provided bibles especially to those in restricted nations were bibles are illegal.

"Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body. (Hebrews 13:3 ESV)

Here are two great websites with more info on the persecuted church. You can also write letters to encourage believers who are in prison for sharing the gospel.
